Seaman USD 345 second graders had an exciting learning opportunity! On Wednesday, September 3, all second grade students across the district experienced Body Venture, a traveling health education exhibit operated by the Kansas State Department of Education’s Child Nutrition and Wellness team. The event took place at North Fairview Elementary.

Body Venture is a unique, walk-through exhibit designed for Kansas students in grades K-5. Students enter an enclosed, interactive environment where they journey through 11 learning stations representing different parts of the body, including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, heart, lungs, bones, muscles, skin, and brain.

At each station, students participate in hands-on activities, visual demonstrations, and interactive lessons. The program encourages children to make healthy choices by focusing on:

Nutrition: Learning the importance of eating a balanced diet following MyPlate guidelines.

Physical Activity: Understanding how exercise helps strengthen muscles, bones, and the heart.

Healthy Habits: Reinforcing positive choices and avoiding harmful ones, such as tobacco use.

Body Venture is not only engaging for students, but also a chance for families and the community to get involved. The program relies on volunteer presenters to guide students through each station and our volunteers helped bring the experience to life by leading discussions and activities designed to spark curiosity and excitement.
