Learning Without Limits

UKC
Seaman High School Athletic Director Steve Bushnell presented the United Kansas Conference Cup at the September Board Meeting. Seaman High School won the conference cup championship after last year's performances in athletics and activities. Points are accumulated based on team rankings. Check out the list below to see how well we did our first year in the new league. As you can see, this championship was a big group effort and we are so proud of all our students and coaches in bringing home the cup! "Finishing 16 points ahead of second place is quite an accomplishment," said Bushnell. "We challenged our student body at the beginning of the school year to be the champions and compete, and we certainly did that."

The board recognized our Teachers of they Year by school and our District Teachers of the Year at the September Board Meeting. And the Conference Cup made another cameo because...why not?

"These teachers are preparing our students to be successful and giving them the tools and dispositions to be successful in life and we can't thank them enough," said Mr. Willson.

Superintendent Remarks

Mr. Willson took a moment to commemorate 9/11 and spoke about how he will never forget those who lost their lives from the attacks and how he will also always remember that school safety is our number one priority. When speaking of 9/11 he said, "We learned that the world is different today...We also learned that when there are fellow Americans in need, we will set aside our differences and step up to help." Mr. Willson talked about putting aside differences and finding commonalities with each other.

Superintendent remarks also included a brief overview and explanation of revenue neutral rate and the new requirements designed to increase transparency but can also be difficult to understand. "I never forget who pays for our students' education and when I talk about the money of the district, I really don't talk about it as the district's money, or my money, or the board's money. It is always our taxpayers money and I want to give our taxpayers the most value for their contribution. We do way more for students now than we did twenty years ago and we want to make sure that as efficiently as possible."

President Remarks

"My hope is that as the school year is progressing, our teachers and students are thriving. It is so easy to see everything going on with our athletics because it's out there, we go, we watch. It's not as easy for us to see what goes on, on a day-to-day basis in the classroom. So we rely on our teachers and our administrators to continue with the growth and the excellence that we want here at Seaman."

Michelle also recognized 9/11 and encouraged everyone to keep September 11 in their hearts as they move forward.
